Visual Development

Here is the final results of my final project. I am very pleased how this project come out. The box, gear, and the bottle was already modeled out and provided to us. Also the ground plane, lighting, cardboard texture on the box was provided to us as well. This image is the final result after creating render passes and then bringing them into Nuke to composite the image. I did color grading, ramps, and vignette effect. I have also corrected the weird yellow hue from the tip of the bottle that showed up on my rendered.

For the gear, I created the UV layout and I created the gear texture in photoshop. I used diffuse map, bump map, and reflection map. I also used gamma correction and ramps to enhance the colors of the gear.

For the box, I used 3d texture and placement. I created the Hudson Apple Orchard sticker in Photoshop. I used 3D projection to place the sticker onto the box. I have also added a reflection map to the sticker to give it a reflective look. I have also applied a very small bump map, so the sticker will pop out just a little. The dirt map was provided and I placed it onto the bottom of the box to give it a dirty look like it was on the ground at the Apple Orchard. I used 3d Project to place the dirt onto the box. I applied transparency to the dirt so that the box will show through the dirt. Finally, I have applied gamma correction to the sticker and the dirt to enhanced the colors.

For the bottle, I have used diffused map, transparency map, reflective map, and bump map. I have created the bottle label in Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop. I used Photoshop to create my Alpha. I used the 2D placement node to put the label onto the bottle. I have used reflective layer to give the label that reflective look. Then I have used a fingerprint dirt map and applied it to the bottle to give it a dirty finger print appearance. I have applied a transparency map to the finger prints so it will show through the bottle. Finally, I created two different bump maps to the bottle, the first one on the top was created in Adobe Illustrator as a black and white image, then applied to standard bump. The bottom bump is a simple text based bump that says "Hudson Ruiz Bottling Co." When I rendered this out, I have used Caustic to give the reflective light bound on the ground.

I was provided the scene, and a reference image. I had to match the reference image to the scene. The top image, I used Directional Light as the light showing through the window, and I have used an orange area light with sphere shape for the back room. The bottom image, I kept the same lighting, but I have added 3 mental ray rectangle area lights to enhance the lighting and give the room a noon look.
